Matt Dawley

President, Graphic Communications

Matt joined Graphic Communications as its fourth employee in 1990 in a business development role. He has been President of the company since 1997 and retained that position through the acquisition by Unisource.

Matt started his career in the printing business in 1984 working for Meredith/Burda in Des Moines, Iowa. He also held a customer service position in Casa Grande, AZ, and worked in a sales role for Meredith/ Burda in San Francisco.

Matt graduated from the University of Iowa with a BBA.


Bill King

Senior Vice President of North American Operations, Graphic Communications

Bill is responsible for all sourcing relationships and departments for Graphic Communications. He has been a key member of the GC executive team since October 2003.

Prior to his career at Graphic, Bill was President for two years of Norkol/Fibercore, an on-site paper converting company, and for 16 years, he held key executive positions with Vertis, Inc., a nationwide provider of advertising inserts. During his tenure at Vertis, Bill was Director of Materials Management and was responsible for all nationwide sourcing of printing materials.

Bill holds a degree in advertising design from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.


John Patneau

Senior Vice President of Print Solutions, Graphic Communications

John joined Graphic Communications in June 2009 to lead the growing Print Solutions Group. He brings more than 25 years of experience in sales, manufacturing and customer service in the printing industry.

John previously served as Executive Vice President of Quebecor World’s Catalog division. Prior to his leadership role at Quebecor, he held several positions with RR Donnelley & Sons.

John is a member of the Direct Marketing Association, the American Catalog Mailers Association and the Gravure Association of America. He previously served on the board of the Gravure Catalog and Insert Council.

John has an Executive MBA from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Centre College in Danville, KY.


Ralph O’Connor

Director of Environmental Affairs, Graphic Communications

Ralph has held top sales and leadership positions in the paper industry for more than 30 years. He also spent five years in the printing business before coming to GC in 2005 as Vice President of Coated Paper.

In 2006, Ralph became Director of Environmental Affairs for Graphic, the first-known staff position of its kind in the industry. He consults with clients about the value of Chain of Custody certification and the benefits of using paper from sustainable sources. In 2007, Ralph received the Sustainable Forestry Initiative’s (SFI) first-ever President’s Award.

He sits on Sappi Fine Paper North America’s Customer Sustainability Council and Unisource Worldwide’s Sustainability Council. Ralph graduated from the school of graphic arts and printing at the Rochester Institute of Technology.


Simon Scott

Sales Director of Graphic Communications Global Solutions Team

Simon has worked in the print and paper industry for 25 years, starting at Quebecor World in the U.K. He also worked for St. Ives, U.K., and Gruppo Pozzoni in Italy, and has been involved with printers in Japan, North America and every country in Europe.

Until joining the GC global markets team six years ago, Simon was Managing Director of a print management company for eight years. He specializes in helping major organisations develop strategic programs for cost-effective print and paper procurement that meet the highest brand, production and sustainability standards.
